The last few days have been torrid for Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja Arthur who has come under intense pressure to prove the authenticity of his academic credentials as he seeks to ascend to the county’s top seat.
On Monday, Sakaja refused to table evidence showing that he was admitted and paid school fees to Team University in Uganda as he told IEBC Dispute Tribunal that the petition against him was malicious and aimed at keeping him off the campaign trail.
According to Dennis Wahome, who seeks to have the Senator blocked from vying, the purported degree was printed on May 29 this year and the Team University graduation booklet dated October 26, 2016, shows that only six students graduated from the class Sakaja claims to have graduated with.
Moreover, the outgoing senator is accused of fraud as he presented a different degree in the 2017 general election and now a different one in the 2022 general elections.
Sakaja has, however, defended his candidature terming the claims that he did not graduate from Team University as wild, factually hollow and unfounded.
Do you think Sakaja’s university degree is genuine? And if blocked from vying, should IEBC allow UDA to field another candidate in his place?
