The Cat is finally out of the bag and it is Double R for Kenya Kwanza! Deputy President William Ruto has picked Mathira MP Rigathi Gachua as his running mate ahead of the general elections.
Tharaka-Nithi County senator Kithure Kindiki was seen by many as the frontrunner for the position up until Sunday afternoon when DP Ruto confirmed Gachagua as his preferred deputy.
By the time we published this, Hon. Kithure Kindiki was yet to give a formal statement but promised to do so on Monday (today).
Elsewhere in the Azimio camp, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Democratic Movement Party has vowed to move to court on Monday, May 16 seeking to withdraw from the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Makueni Member of Parliament Dan Maanzo, who is one of the lawyers for the Wiper Party said talks to have Kalonzo be the Odinga’s running mate were not forthcoming.
Maanzo stated that Odinga was not keen on having Kalonzo be his running mate in the August elections hence the latest move.
Still, in the Azimio camp, Raila Odinga’s running mate is expected to be announced today, Monday, May 16.
Away from politics, Manchester City fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with West Ham United on Sunday (May 15) but the Premier League leaders dropped two points in the title race.
With Liverpool playing at Southampton on Tuesday, City had the chance to open a six-point lead at the top but the draw at the London Stadium meant they moved four points above Liverpool, with one game left.

The cards on the table contained the names of Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki.
Wiper Party Announces Who Raila Odinga has Settled to as His Running Mate as New Details Emerge
The Wiper Party has announced that they are aware of who former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has settled on as his running mate inside the Azimio One Kenya Alliance spelling doom for their Party leader.
According to Makueni MP Dan Maanzo, he has informed that they have already received details that Raila Odinga in the Kenyatta International Conference Center(KICC) event slated today is planning to name Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua as his running mate.
