Good Morning,

It is on a Thursday and the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, especially in the Mt Kenya region, seems to be taking a new shape.

While DP William Ruto has been busy endearing himself to the commoners (Boda Boda riders and mama mbogas) the recent declaration by Mt Kenya billionaires to back Raila for the big seat could probably change the region’s political wave.

The group said they were going to back Raila’s bid for the presidency after wide consultations amongst themselves and advice from Kenyatta.

ODM leader Raila Odinga and MKF Chairman Peter Munga in Nairobi on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

The group went ahead to caution Mt Kenya against going contrary with Kenyatta’s vision of uniting Kenyans arguing that there will be tears in the future for the region if they don’t heed the president’s call.

The MKF said they are going to mobilize resources to see Raila’s race to the State House a success, throwing the OKA principals under the bus.

From their declaration, it is now imminent that Uhuru’s hand in the decision was largely involved. Do you think this will change Mt Kenya’s political wave and largely impact Ruto’s solid support from the region?
