Last week ended on a low following the tragic Mwingi bus accident that led to the death of 33. According to the most recent update, the bus was successfully retrieved from Enziu River on Sunday with the search of bodies still ongoing.

This tragedy threw Kenyans into mourning with several leaders passing on their messages of condolences to the bereaved. In a statement issued by the head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta, who joined Kenyans in mourning, he warned drivers against attempting to cross flooded rivers, especially during the rainy season.

On matters of politics, the 2022 elections are now taking shape with Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua already having launched his manifesto. One of the anticipated events in the political scene this week is Raila’s grand declaration which is scheduled for Friday, 10th, December.

The former prime minister’s allies are convinced that Raila stands a greater chance in this 4th attempt at becoming the head of state considering that he has support from the government.

In an interesting turn of events, as he tried to popularize his Ubuntu People’s Forum (UPF) party while seeking aspirants and supporters ahead of next year’s elections, the Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui received a surprise from his fellow Nakuru residents after including Raila’s name in that drive.

He had started by saying that in next year’s elections, “I’ll come with my party called UPF but on the top seat I know some people have different opinions (from mine) though I’ve decided that I’ll be with this old man (Raila Odinga). This old man of reggae.

“They Paid the Driver Sh50” Amount of Money Passengers Paid to Cross River Enziu Before the Accident

Those who survived the ill-fated bus tragedy at River Enziu in Kitui County have disclosed the amount of money travelers paid to the driver of the bus before boarding it. According to the survivors, they paid the bus driver Sh50 each to cross the flooded river.

Before the bus arrived at the river from Mwingi carrying choir members, stranded travelers had camped at the river bank hoping that the water levels would subside. It emerged that the driver opted to cross the dangerous bridge after the members of the catholic choir pressured him.
