A developing story this morning has it that an East African president is currently battling COVID-related symptoms at a Nairobi hospital.
According to reports by the Daily Nation, the patient is the Head of a State that has been belittling the danger of the coronavirus and has, until recently, undermined safety precautions such as social distancing and wearing of masks.
We all know who is most-likely being described above, but this piece of news still comes as a surprise.
As mentioned above, it is only recently that the leader started taking the pandemic seriously, and the big question here is, what changed his mind?
The good news is that there is always a silver lining in every dark cloud.
As we wish him a quick and full recovery, at least there is hope that this is a learning moment for his government, and going forward, adequate measures will be put in place to tame the situation in his country, which has often been reported as dire.

Identity of East African President Admitted At Nairobi Hospital Revealed
On Tuesday, social media was abuzz with reports that Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli was admitted at The Nairobi Hospital.
Magufuli, last seen in public on 27th February, has been missing in action for weeks now, something that has caused panic among Tanzanians.
His government has not given any official information regarding the status of his health.
MPs Wanga and Gogo in Near-Fistfight in Parliament
Fiery Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga yesterday nearly exchanged blows with Rangwe MP Lilian Gogo as the county supremacy battles spilled into Parliament.
The two MPs who have had long-standing differences, engaged in a nasty spat on the floor of the House in what almost degenerated into a physical fight.
Gogo took on Wanga, claiming that the Woman Rep has developed a habit of traversing her constituency and launching development projects without her knowledge.
Raila checks into Nairobi Hospital for series of tests
ODM leader Raila Odinga checked into Nairobi Hospital yesterday for a series of tests.
Raila reportedly complained of fatigue when he returned from a grueling five-day tour of the Coast region where he had drummed up support for the Building Bridges Initiative.
“He checked in for a complete series of tests because he has been on a countrywide tour from Turkana to Narok to Busia and Coast region without rest. The doctors have advised that he takes complete rest as they continue to run tests,” his spokesman Dennis Onyango said.
