Nyamira Governor Reportedly Placed on Life Support In Critical Condition; ODM Concedes Defeat by Ruto’s Man in Msambweni & Kenyan Doctor Among First to Get Covid-19 Vaccine in US

Good morning,

When you woke up today, the first thing to see on the internet must have been the victory of Feisal Badar over ODM’s Omar Boga in Msambweni.

This turn of events should worry our political leaders, not in terms of the hustlers vs dynasties narrative, but in terms of the strongholds theory.

Since the end of the Daniel Moi reign, the Coastal region has been classified as an ODM territory, and going into the Msambweni by-election on Tuesday, we were almost sure that the Raila Odinga-led party would win with a landslide.

This serves as a wake-up call for 2022 aspirants, lazing behind the idea that certain regions hold certain political affiliations.

Clearly, things have changed!

2022 should be an interesting period in the Kenyan political scene; we might see ODM scooping victory in Central Kenya and Jubilee dominating Luo-Nyanza.

The good news is that this kind of diversity might actually be the solution to our biggest problem as a nation, tribalism.

Meanwhile, here are the stories making headlines on Opera News today:
