Kenyan Scientist Unveils ARV to Be Used Once in a Year, Carry Your Own Bedding, Food to Quarantine Centres- Governor Tells Locals & DCI Kinoti and DPP Haji Clash Again

Good morning,

You will have to part with Ksh 10,000 if you want to be tested for COVID-19 at the Nairobi Hospital.

The hospital management announced on Monday that they have increased their capacity to do 900 tests per day. In other words, the hospital aims to make a cool nine million every day.

Is it a coincidence that the hospital made this announcement after the government had allowed restaurants to open under strict guidelines or there is a relationship?

According to the Ministry of Health, any restaurant intending to open must first ensure that all employees get tested for Coronavirus. This is where Nairobi Hospital comes into the picture because hotels will have to take their employee en masse to the facility for testing.

The hospitality industry is one of the worst-hit by the effects of the virus. Even as the government allows hotels to reopen, there is no guarantee that they will have clients. Will hotels spend millions on testing their staff for the virus? That is highly unlikely.

Don’t be surprised when in the coming days, hotels tell their employees to find means of testing for coronavirus because they will not be allowed back to work without proving they have been tested.

And that is how thousands of Kenyans are either going to part with millions to test for the virus or lose jobs due to lack of the Ksh10,000. The question is, should Nairobi Hospital be charging such exorbitant prices for Coronavirus tests? Didn’t President Uhuru Kenyatta warned businesses against taking advantage of the pandemic to make a kill?

And why is the government allowing private hospitals to do the tests without regulations?
