A Mic Is A Powerful Tool – Njambi Koikai Criticizes Ethic Over Lewd ‘Soko’ Song

Ethic Entrainment’s latest song ‘Soko’ has been met with disgust thanks to its lewd lyrics which have proven to be unpalatable even for the most liberal people.

The group has been accused of normalizing rape and paedophilia at a time when the country is grappling with a spike in sexual offences cases.

The song has been pulled down from Youtube but the group is still facing backlash over the irresponsible lyrics. The latest celebrity to jump on the bandwagon is Njambi Koikai who urged the group to do better as public figures because cases of rape and paedophilia in the ghettos are on the rise.

“I’ve heard a lot of people say that they’re not responsible as artistes for the choices of their fans and the children who follow them. When some artistes, lose the plot and sing about our children’s genitalia, all in the name of this is ‘the new wave’, we have lost it. This is glorifying paedophilia. As it is, the number of cases of rape, paedophilia in the ghettos is on the rise. Then you as an artiste drop a song with such lewd lyrics. All in the name of ‘tumetoka ghetto na hii ndio hustle yetu’. Unaweza hustle bila lyrics kama hizi na bado mpenye. Hata sisi we have said some crazy things but not to this level na we learnt to do better. With these youngin’s, seems there’s no learning. From bad to worse.God knows what the next wave will be. Don’t glorify this madness. If you’re a parent in this generation, be very cautious. Remember to guard the hearts and minds of your children,” Njambi posted.

Ethic Apologizes

The group which was in hot soup just a few months ago over the ‘Tarimbo’ song once again took to social media to issue an apology.

“We owe an apology to our fans who have been nothing but supportive throughout our Journey. It has come to our attention that our recently released Soko video has unintentionally promoted Paedophilic culture. We Are therefore sending out sincere apologies to all our fans and viewers at large. As a result, we have made sure the video has been taken down, its inaccessible and we shall not further upload it. We have noted an exchange on Twitter under Swat’s name and we move to confirm that it is an impersonation as Swat does not own a Twitter account. Over and above we sincerely apologize and we are working to release better music content in the future. We appreciate the feedback and we are also grateful for your continued patience. We love you all,” read the apology from Ethic.
