Watford Defender Praises Manchester United New Boy

Watford defender Craig Cathcart has hailed Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes saying he impressed Watford players when the two teams met in February.

Bruno, who joined United in January from Sporting has been in sensational form for the Red Devils, scoring three goals and setting up three others for his teammates.

His fine form has seen him draw praise from across the global football divide. He has been compared to Man United Legend Paul Scholes while some believe he is in the same level as Manchester City’s Kevin De Bryune.

The match against Watford was arguably his best in United colors. He opened the scoring from the penalty spot before setting up Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side register a 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

As United players, fans and coaching staff lauded him for the impact he has had in the team, Watford players were equally impressed particularly with his forward play.

“The thing that impressed me most was that he always looks forward. He always gets the ball and his first thought is to pass forward and create chances, which maybe they [United] were missing before,” Cathcart said.

The defender added that the Portuguese international has brought some needed punch in United’s attack.

“He’s brought that bit of quality and cutting edge to the final third and since he’s come in their performances have been much better, from what I’ve seen,” he added.

The EPL has since been halted due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
