CAS Mercy Mwangangi in a press brief has informed that Covid-19 cases in Kenya has shot to 59

A total of 234 samples have been analysed and 9 people have tested positive to coronavirus bringing the cases to 59 in total.

The Health CS Kagwe Mutahi while reporting the rise of covid-19 cases by eight on Monday,30th, March noted that the virus is now being spread through community transmission ascertaining that the disease is no longer being imported from outside but is here with us.

Mr Kagwe also revealed that there were 20,000 testing kits in Kenya and that the country is still receiving more.

“We validate them to ascertain their efficacy,” he said.

Ministry of Health Director General Dr Patrick Amoth said their preliminary modelling data showed that coronavirus cases by mid-April will hit 5,000, and rise to 10,000 by end of April in the absence of drastic intervention.
