President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Major General MOHAMED ABDALLA Badi to take over as Director-General of the newly created Nairobi Metropolitan Services with immediate effect.
Making the announcements on Wednesday evening, the president stated that Major General will be deputized by Enosh Onyango Momanyi as the Deputy Director-General to the office.
The office will be in charge of all the functions transferred to the national government from the county government of Nairobi.
While making announcements the president asked the newly appointed team to bring to an end corruption menace that has threatened to shut down operations at the country’s biggest city.

The president also challenged the team to ensure garbage collection and disposal in the county, as well as water and sanitation issues, are solved within the shortest time possible.
The NMS was also tasked with streamlining urban renewal projects which have been delayed.
“The biggest problem that the city faces is corruption and cartels that have a vice-like grip on City Hall…the cartels and corrupt practices have made service delivery almost impossible…” stated President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Before the announcement, Uhuru oversaw a function where embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko officially handing over Nairobi County administration to the National Government.
