Governor Orders All Public Mortuaries Closed as Coronavirus Spreads

All public mortuaries have been ordered to remain closed by Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in an intensified war on Coronavirus.

Governor Oparanya has also ordered all residents of Kakamega to bury their dead immediately without going through mortuaries in a bid to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

This order comes just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered all schools closed and that all pupils be back home.

This was after three cases of Coronavirus were reported in Kenya with dozens more getting quarantined at the Mbagathi Health Facility.

The Government has also announced a lock-down of the airport, barring all passengers from countries with reported Coronavirus cases.

The deadly virus has so far claimed the lives of some 6,000 people with tens of thousands battling for survival at homes and isolation camps.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia has asked all Public Service Vehicles (PSV) to fumigate their vehicles and provide sanitizers to their passengers.

The Government has also banned all large public gatherings and ordered members of the public to observe hygiene by washing hands with soap frequently.
