Homa Bay MCAs Oust Majority Leader and Acting Speaker

Homa Bay MCAs have ousted the acting speaker Evance Marieba and majority leader Walter Were. The Assembly has replaced them with Geoffrey Anyango and Jeff Ongoro respectively.

Formerly in 2018, drama erupted leading to ousting of majority leader Richard Ogindo who was ejected during a special proceeding presided over by the assembly’s deputy speaker Evans Marieba.

The MCAs rebelled against the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM). They were reported to have reneged against the party stand following a period of disagreement over how the house issues were being conducted by the current leadership.

Following the bold vote, Kanyadoto MCA Walter Muok was installed as the new majority leader.

Meanwhile, a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) on Tuesday also lost her seat at the Nairobi House.

Nominated Jubilee MCA Habiba Hussein

One Habiba Ibrahim Hussein lost her seat at the assembly after she was found to have missed two years’ worth of committee sittings.

The MCA was nominated to the assembly by the Jubilee party.

The report tabled by Githurai MCA Naftali Mathenge indicated that Ms. Hussein has not attended any House session or committee meeting since 2017.
