Wolves Topple Spurs, Man United Held As Top Four Race Intensifies

Tottenham Hotspur continued with their woeful form as they went down at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jose Mourinho’s side made it three losses on the bounce in all competitions after a spirited Wolves comeback saw Nuno Espiritinos team come away with a 3-2 win.

The home side went ahead through their Dutch January window signing Steven Bergwijn who blasted from close range. Wolves were, however, level just 14 minutes later through Matt Doherty who tapped in following good work from Adama Traore.

A frantic first half ended with Spurs in front. Ivorian fullback Serge Aurier curved in a beautiful shot into the top corner after a lung-bursting surging run.

Wolves would not be held back and equalized through Diogo Jotta before Raul Jiminez sealed the comeback win with 17 minutes left on the clock. The win takes Wolves into sixth on the table while Spurs are 7th with 42 points.

Meanwhile, an early error by David De Gea was canceled out by Bruno Fernandez as Manchester United drew 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park. De Gea mistimed a routine clearance allowing Calvert Lewin to poke in barely two minutes into the match.
