The Meru BBI meeting brought together counties from the Mt Kenya region where they tabled their grievances which they wished captured in the BBI report.

The ODM leader after the meeting labelled it a success saying the Mt Kenya region had spoken their wishes and went ahead to highlight the issues.

“Our brothers and sisters from the Mt Kenya region have spoken. The issues they want to be addressed through the BBI process include agricultural sector reforms, increased devolution funding, youth and women’s empowerment and constitutional time frames for corruption cases,” tweeted Raila.

Governor Waiguru on her part said: “Mt Kenya has spoken! Loud and clear. One Man One Vote One Shilling is the way to go. The Mt Kenya region BBI convention has been a huge success. And the reggae continues..tukutane tena Nakuru County.”

That aside, the Meru BBI rally had some fair share of drama after Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, his Meru counterpart Mithika Linturi and Gatundu MP Moses Kuria missed out on seats.

The leaders were pictured standing as a host of leader present sat at their respective seats.

The incident, reports say, led to the leaders walking out of Kinoru Stadium at a time when the BBI meeting was still on course.

However, according to Murkomen, the move was provoked by the personal commitment he had pending.

While giving reasons why he left, Murkomen tweeted: “It isn’t true that I stormed out of the Kinoru BBI meeting. Moses Kuria who gave me lift was leaving for another engagement. I had no choice but to follow. I also had parental duties in my children’s school. I apologize that wanachi followed us out of the stadium. We intended Not.”
