One of the ladies interviewed even openly claimed the desert locusts could cure Coronavirus that has caused a storm in the world.

Some of the residents even stated they would be roasting the locusts to sell in local markets.

Last week, the Government through the Director of Desert Locusts Control Organization for East Africa Dr Stephen Njoka advised Kenyans against eating the locusts.

β€œThe communities that eat them should be careful not to eat the ones that have been sprayed with the pesticide,” stated Njoka.

He added that a single swarm of locusts could contain up to 40 million locusts, saying this means they could not be eradicated through consumption.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya revealed the Government had acquired aircraft to help in spraying pesticides.
