Tangatanga Descend on Junet Mohammed After Scandalous Narok BBI Rally

Suna East MP, Junet Mohammed, on Saturday found himself under siege from forces opposed to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), who accused him of double standards, after he directly attacked them during the Narok edition of the BBI consultative forums.

In his speech, the MP had called out the Tangatanga faction for failing to show up for the Narok rally, terming their decision to selectively attend the meetings as a plan to sabotage the BBI agenda.

He further questioned why Deputy President William Ruto’s allies had not yet tabled their grievances against the BBI process.

In response, Tangatanga troops led by Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen accused Junet of doublespeak, and ignorance on matters Maa community leadership.

According to Murkomen, Junet was quick to incite the Maasai community against choosing leaders from other tribes, yet he was an elected leader of the Luo community, despite being a non-Luo.

”So @JunetMohamed, a Somali in Migori voted In by Luos went all the way to Narok to tell the Maasai not to elect non-Maa in Narok, Kajado and Samburu?” the senator fired back, also expressing concern that ODM leader Raila Odinga seemed to be in agreement with the tribalistic approach.

”Kwendeni huko kabisa msituletee ujinga ya ukabila (leave us out of your tribal pettiness), let Kenyans live, work and lead anywhere in the Republic’,” he added.

On his part, Kikuyu MP, Kimani Ichung’wa, dared the BBI entourage to attempt airing their derogatory leadership sentiments, during the upcoming Meru BBI rally, the first of its kind in Central Kenya.

”I would dare @JunetMohamed to tell the people of Meru next weekend that they should never have elected Hon Rahim Dawoud as MP there, or stopover in Ruiru, where the late Gearbox Cyrus Omondi(May he RIP) was elected McA or the Kenyan Asian MCA in Juja? Tell them they shouldn’t have,” he retorted.

The new Tangatanga-BBI conflict erupted on Wednesday, after Narok senator, Ledama Olekina, revealed his intentions to table the proposals that Maasai land and leadership should be restricted to the Maasai.

He was speaking during an appearance on Citizen TV‘s JKL show.
