Deputy President William Ruto was on Sunday left speechless, after the Sunday Nation ran a feature claiming that his political future was in jeopardy, as he had surrounded himself with toxic individuals.
Sharing a screenshot of the paper’s first page’s headline ”Man Under Siege”, Ruto resorted to using only emojis to express the laughability of the Nation‘s article.
”He styles himself as a hustler who is fighting political dynasties but his path is littered with political mistakes and an unhelpful circle of political allies…” The story kicker read.

State House Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, who was one of the ‘unhelpful allies’ cited by the Nation, was also quick to fire back at the publication, for defaming him, going as far as threatening to file a lawsuit to that effect.
”Sometimes @dailynation gets DRUNK with LIES born in their own Newsroom, creatively watered & fertilized by some Editors & compiled into an Abunuwasi Comic, maybe Cinderella, without doubt, phantom stories of giants. FAKE NEWS on STEROIDS,” Itumbi retorted.
FULL CIRCLE – As has been said by those before me, " First they IGNORE you, then they LAUGH at you, then they FIGHT you, then YOU WIN”

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro also rushed to the defense of the DP and his allies, wondering why it is only after those mentioned in the article, such as Rashid Echesa, Aisha Jumwa, Don Bosco Gichana, and Zaheer Jhanda, ditched the ODM train, that the media company deemed it fit to group them as useless individuals.
When Rashid was ODM YL Chair, he was a good boy.
When Don Bosco donated a Hummer to Tinga, he smart young man.
When Zaheer did Gold Business with the lord of poverty, he was Mweupe kama pamba.

Nyali MP Mohammed Ali was also among those who questioned the neutrality of the newspaper, noting that the editors seemed to be working closely with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in tarnishing Ruto’s reputation.
”Daily Nation/ Daily Confusion. DCI- Chief Editor. Only fake people value fake news,” he tweeted.
