Babu Owino is Ruto’s Friend, Murkomen Claims Hours After MP Attended Raila’s BBI Rally

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, on Sunday joined his Tangatanga counterparts, in castigating the Sunday Nation, over an article portraying Deputy President William Ruto as being surrounded by unhelpful allies.

Titled ‘‘The Man Under Siege,” the story attracted the fury of Ruto and his allies, who accused the publication of subjective reporting, on individuals who had ditched ODM leader Raila Odinga, in favor of Ruto.

On his part, Ruto tweeted laugher emojis in response to the controversial piece, while his allies, such as Dennis Itumbi, Ndindi Nyoro went into details on their opinion of the article.

Like his political friends, Murkomen noted that the individuals featured in the story, as Ruto’s unhelpful allies, were once in President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga’s inner circles, but were now being portrayed negatively, because they had joined Ruto’s camp.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, Zaheer Jhanda, Rashid Echesa, Dennis Itumbi, Don Bosco Gichana, and Ferdinand Waititu were on top on the Nation‘s list of ‘shame’.

”They were at one time the closest of friends&advisors of Raila&the President. Just because they have become friends of the Deputy President they are now being profiled as though they are the only Kenyans facing challenges,” Murkomen tweeted.

He further questioned why other individuals facing criminal accusations, such as Migori Governor Okoth Obado, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, were left out of the list, despite being ”friends of the DP.”

Obado was listed as a prime suspect in the murder case of one Sharon Otieno, while Owino was caught on camera shooting a man in the neck.

Murkomen appeared to suggest that the publication was aligned in favor of proponents of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which Obado and Owino had expressed full support for.

On Saturday, Owino was among leaders who flocked Narok county for the fifth BBI rally.
