They Were Confirming-Tangatanga Senator Defends Echesa’s Controversial 23 Minutes in Ruto’s Office

Kericho Senator, Aaron Cheruiyot, on Wednesday fervently defended Deputy President William Ruto, against allegations that he was involved in his ally, Rashid Echesa’s, Ksh39 billion fake military equipment tender, by allowing the ex-cabinet secretary use his office to dupe foreigners.

Speaking on JKLive on Wednesday, the lawmaker asserted that the whole scandal was politically instigated by forces working against Ruto’s success.

Cheruiyot started off by calling out Echesa on his alleged fraudulent dealings, further expressing his doubts on the legality of the foreigners who raised the alarm on Echesa.

”In my own assesment….about all this thing…of course it is really wrong what Rashid Echesa did…and those ”investors”…there is no investors who do the kind of thing they were doing. There is no investor who signs a contract in some public waiting room somewhere with no lawyer…” he noted.

The senator asserted that the reason why detectives ensured that they arrested Echesa just outside Ruto’s Harambee Annex offices, was in order to rope the DP in.

”Why was it so important for him to be arrested immediately he showed up at the office of the deputy president?” the Tangatanga die-hard posited.

”Do you know why? There is a political narrative,” he added.

Asked why Echesa spent so much time at the DP’s office premises, Cheruiyot explained that the staff at Harambee Annex were simply checking whether the ex-CS had an appointment with Ruto.

”The minute it was confirmed and he was told that you don’t have an appointment here, he left,” the legislator said.

”They were confirming,” he added, in response to the question of why Echesa and his entourage spent so much time at the DP’s office.
