Former Gem Member of Parliament, Jakoyo Midiwo brushed shoulders with K24 news anchor after alleging that Deputy President William Ruto is a corrupt man.
In a panel discussion at K24’s morning show, Jakoyo who is Raila Odinga’s cousin tabled scathing attacks on the deputy president.
While addressing former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale, Midiwo compared Kibaki’s administration with that of Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Imagine, Kibaki never condoned corruption. The person you are supporting so vehemently is thoroughly corrupt,” said Jakoyo.
The ODM member went ahead to dare the DP to sue him if the allegations he made were untrue.
K24 news anchor Jeff Mote prompted Jakoyo to withdraw the statement, but this fell on his deaf ears.
“Jeff that is not your business,” he said.
Khalwale did not take the insults and allegations directed to his boss kindly saying that it is not fair to accuse Ruto of being corrupt without factual evidence.
He then threw the ball to Jakoyo, referring to him as one of the most corrupt Member of parliament he has associated with.
“Parliament almost moved a vote of no confidence because of his dealings with Sportpesa, Betin and so on.”
“The guy was owning properties belonging to the Kenya Railways, it was demolished three months ago,” alleged Khalwale.
The debate comes amid a heated political moment in the country due to Ruto’s office involvement in the Ksh39.5 billion firearms scandal.
A rogue deal to procure security equipment is said to have been sealed in the office of the Deputy President at Harambee House Annex.
The Director of criminal investigations launched a probe into the matter, so far staff from Ruto’s office have been questioned and CCTV footage collected.
