Details of Mandera Bus Attack Emerge

Fresh details have emerged after a Nairobi bound bus from Mandera was attacked leaving passengers dead and others injured.

Six men on motorbikes are reported to have ambushed the Moyale Raha bus at around 11 am Wednesday, February 19 some 70 Kilometres from Rhamu police station in Mandera North sub-County.

One of the assailants shot at the rear right tyre, forcing the bus driver to veer off the road before stopping to assess the matter.

It is at this point where the suspected Al Shabaab militants gained access to the bus and shot dead three passengers.

During the attack on innocent civilians inside the bus, the assailants also shot and injured three more passengers.

Mandera police boss stated that all the 47 passengers in the bus had been accounted for after the ambush and that the deceased had been transferred to Mandera County Referral Hospital mortuary and the injured admitted to the same facility.

In December, suspected Shabaab militants raided a construction site and burnt down construction equipment at the site.

This happened hot on the heels of another daring attack in Lamu that claimed the lives of two servicemen and a local in Lamu County.
