5 Demands DP Ruto Made to IG Mutyambai in Angry Echesa-Drama Letter

Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday penned a furious letter to Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai, after it emerged that foreigners were allowed access to his Harambee Annex offices, for a meeting allegedly hosted by former sports CS Rashid Echesa.

In the letter, Ruto made several demands to the police boss, including an explanation of how unauthorized persons managed to breach the security detail at the expansive building, for the 23 minutes they allegedly spent at the premises on Feb. 13.

Echesa and two foreign nationals, Mustafa Mamdough Amer Lofty and Kozlowski Stanley Bruno, are reported to have accessed the second floor of the complex.

In the letter, Ruto directed the police force to launch a forensic probe into the incident, to establish how the three managed to stage the security breach.

Further, the politician demanded that the IG identify which specific security officers let the strangers into the premises.

The DP also ordered a probe into the immigration status of Lofty and Kozlowski, and the reason for their presence in the country.

The angry deputy head of state went ahead to direct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bar the two from leaving the country, until investigations into their identities, criminal history, and business profile, were exhaustively conducted.

On Tuesday, Echesa, during an interview with NTV, vehemently denied all accusations leveled against him in the Ksh39 billion fake gun tender scandal, which the DP, through the letter to the IG, and previous social media posts, has distanced himself from.

The ex-minister dared the police to table all evidence they had against him, asserting that he was never part of the controversial deal.

Echesa is considered a close ally of Ruto and one of the DP’s key anchors to the Western Kenya region.
