Ruto Host Governors at his Karen Residence (Photos)

Days after the Deputy President William Ruto made headlines over alleged association with Ksh40 billion botched firearm deal that led to arrest of Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa, the DP was on Tuesday back to his executive roles after hosting a number of county governors at his Karen office.

Through his social media sites, the DP who earlier seemed to have been sidelined by the state in most government functions affirmed his role after posting photos of himself chairing the Intergovernmental Budget and Economic Council (IBEC) meeting.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the county governments will get Sh316.5 billion, rather than the proposed Sh317.5 billion, for the 20220-21 financial year.

“Consultation and dialogue are vital to the resolution of any issues between the National and County governments. This is the easiest way to overcome any conflict on revenue allocation while ensuring Kenyans receive uninterrupted services at the grassroots,” posted Ruto on Twitter after the meeting.

“In this respect the InterGovernmental Budget and Economic Council has agreed that counties will receive Sh316.5 billion in the 2020/21 financial year,” he added.
DP Ruto also asked the Governors to match their budget to the country’s revenue to ensure that the country does not spend more than it can collect.

Early in 2019, the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) had proposed that County Governments be allocated Sh321.74 billion for the 2020/21 financial year.
