“He then parked his bike inside the compound and proceeded with the woman into the hospital in the company of four others, at the doctor’s room Mr Mburu was then asked to leave which he did,” said Mr Gabriel Mirieri.

Mr Mirieri further said that the bodaboda rider was taken into the hospital’s security office where the alleged shooting took place- he was then rushed back into the hospital.

After the shooting incident, the AP officer who is yet to be identified is said to have fled the scene as civilians who witnessed the incident started charging towards him baying for his blood.

The incident comes barely weeks after IPOA raised concerns over a series of cases where police are suspected to have shot members of the public.

About a month ago, a minor identified as Stephen Machurusi was shot dead by suspected police officers during demonstrations at Sunton area, Kasarani.

Residents in the area were demonstrating against poor state of roads in Kasarani and Mwiki areas.
