Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi could be on the brink of leaving the Gunners after he was involved in a training ground bust-up with Mikel Arteta.
The talented midfielder is not one to shy away from a confrontation as shown whenever he plays but he may have taken it a bit too far this time. It has been reported that Mikel Arteta was not impressed with his behavior during Arsenals training camp in Dubai and the Spanish manager made it known to the player.
Guendouzi, not happy with the comments made by Arteta, talked back and this continued in the hotel where the players and staff were residing in. This obviously made the coach angry and as a result, dropped the midfielder from the matchday squad for the Newcastle match.
When Arteta was quizzed on why he dropped the midfielder he replied that he picked players who were training better.
“The reason is that players who, in my opinion, are training better, behaving better and are more applied to deliver on the pitch what we want, are the players that are selected,” he said.
It is still not clear whether the two have since reconciled or the feud still remains. This will be much more clear on Thursday when Arsenal travels to face Olympiacos in the first knockout round of the UEFA Europa League.
With Arsenal looking to raise funds through player sales in the summer, Guendouzi could find himself out of the club should the issue remain unresolved.
