Ngilu’s Dark Past Comes Back to Haunt Her After Calling for Ruto’s Resignation

Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have vehemently defended him over recent onslaughts from Kitui governor Charity Ngilu, whom they accuse of double standards.

Led by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, the Tanga Tanga leaders have reminded Ngilu over her dark past and graft allegations while claiming that her attacks on the DP are opportunistic and meant to protect her from investigation.

“The tragedy is that Ngilu has been advised that as long as she attacks DP Ruto then her file which is ready for prosecution will be shelved&she will remain free. You may hate it but sadly that’s a sound strategy&she will truly remain free for as long as she attacks DP&sings BBI,” Murkomen said.

In his part, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah termed Ngilu as desperate while alluding that her alleged involvement in the burning of Kitui county finance offices could be a cover-up attempt.

His sentiments were echoed by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot who accused her of being behind the arson attack and dodging Senate summons.

“Kenya is full of turncoat activists like @mamangilu. Under her watch as CS, the entire finance office was razed down. A feat she has repeated as governor. All to scatter investigations. Senate has fined her Ksh 500K for dodging appearance. Here she is pontificating,” Cheruiyot asserted.

Despite the fact that the June 2019 case was investigated, many read malice in the whole incident as the fire occurred when the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives were set to investigate alleged abuse of public funds in the county.

Moreover, Digital Strategist & Blogger Dennis Itumbi reminded the Kitui boss of being in the ‘list of shame’ that President Uhuru Kenyatta presented in the Parliament during his 2015 State of the Nation address.

As the then Lands, Housing and Urban Development CS, Ngilu was among top government officials named in the corruption list forwarded to the president by the EACC.

Governor Ngilu was accused of allegedly instructing valueres from her ministry to inflate the value of Waititki Farm in Mombasa by Sh110 million to get a Sh65 million kickback once the farm was sold.

Moreover, nominated senator Millicent Omanga  bashed the Kitui governor for propagating lies against the DP while recalling the President Kenyatta fired her for being corrupt, hence had no moral authority to talk about graft.

It’s sad that @mamangiluwho has failed to appear b4 PAC for audit queries can’t be ashamed of spreading propaganda against the DP. Again ‘saint’ ngilu was fired from jubilee govt due to mountains of corruption cases! Ngilu shld be the last person to talk abt corruption,” she said.
