I’m Battling Depression – Otile Brown’s Emotional Confession

For the last year, Otile Brown has exhibited wild and erratic behavior on social media that includes exchanging insults and bashing his ex-Vera Sidika on social media.

The ‘Chaguo la Moyo’ singer has finally explained why he has been ‘wilding out’; behaviour that has alienated him from fans.

As it turns out, Otile has been drowning in depression for the last year.

“Depression is real. For the longest time, I have not been okay. I’ve been working, doing shows but emotionally and physically I’ve been troubled,” he confessed on Radio Maisha.

Otile then went on to reveal that the problem with battling a mental condition in the limelight is that you have little to no support.

“The problem with being an artiste is that we cannot open up to people. You can have a lot going on in your life but you cannot talk because there is a way people perceive you. When you talk, one finds peace but as an artiste, you don’t know who to trust because you are not sure who is your friend. Some people may come and listen to you but all they want is to spread information about you,” he disclosed.

To help him on this journey, Otile has been seeking professional help. “I have been seeking help, I’m also trying to relax, to cleanse my body, eat better just trying to get rid of that bad energy and to focus. I have been depressed for a whole year and it had me wilding on social media and I have done some things that have disappointed my fans,” Otile Brown added.

Khaligraph Jones’ Battle With Depression

Otile is the latest among the increasing list of celebrities who are battling/have battled depression.

Khaligraph Jones recently revealed that tough economic times when he was growing up drove him into depression.

Life never used to be like this, things were different way back. You know where I’m from Kayole 1960 and of course coming from such a place the usual stuff is expected. When I’m talking about the usual stuff I mean ni ngumu. Maisha ilikua hard. I remember I was having a conversation with your DJ and I told him mi niliachia shule form four not because I wanted to but because of the circumstance at that particular point, just like I said, things never used to be the way they are now. Things used to be hard we had to undergo a lot of trials and tribulations and all that to elevate to this position but now we are happy God is good we are making moves,”  Jones revealed on The Trend.
