Starehe Boys Centre and School on Fire

A fire incident was on Saturday night reported at Starehe Boys Centre and School.

According to the news so far, the student’s workshop and study block were the affected areas.

Acting director Josphat Mwaura confirmed the incident and added Nairobi firefighters responded in time to contain the situation.

“At about 6.30 PM this evening, smoke was spotted billowing out of one of the buildings which house a workshop. The boys who had remained at the Centre during the half-term break were already gathered at roll call at the time .. ” said Mwaura.

No casualties were reported.

The incident occurred at a time when students had gone home for a half term.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but operations are underway to put out the fire.

The Kenya Red Cross rescue operations have been dispatched to the school to contain the fire.
