Why the Late Wendani MCA Seconded Waititu’s Impeachment

Details have emerged as to why the Late Wendani MCA Cyrus Omondi seconded the impeachment of ousted Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

The two have never shared a plate as much though they both won the elections on a Jubilee ticket.

It all started in January 2018 just months after the two had won the elections when ex-governor Waititu said that the region wouldn’t allow “foreigners” to win any elective seats.

This was seen as an attack on Mr Omondi, who won the elections against all odds and even caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Waititu went ahead to ask residents to not only reject ‘outsiders’ seeking leadership positions but to also deal with their inflow into Kiambu County.

“The outsiders voted for Mr Omondi during the Jubilee nominations and also voted for Nasa leader Raila Odinga in the presidential race- denying President Uhuru Kenyatta votes,” the ex-governor was quoted by the Nation as saying.

The utterances sparked a debate not only in Kiambu County but also the whole county at large.

The late Omondi was born and brought up in Kahawa where his father was an army officer based at Kahawa Barracks.

The ex-governor further claimed that he was ferrying members of his community to the region to allegedly form vigilante groups.

“These are local youth drawn from even the Kikuyu community, born and brought up in Kahawa Wendani, their activities are as a result of a deal between them and matatu operators,” he said in the past.

Omondi was found dead in his India hotel room on Wednesday, where he is said to have attended a workshop with a few of his colleagues.
