Court Issues Harsh Conditions on Jowie Before His Release

Milimani Law Courts Judge James Wakiaga issued tough conditions before he released Mr Joseph Jowie Irungu on a Sh2 million bail.

Mr Irungu is the main suspect in the murder of Ms Monica Kimani in her Kilimani apartment and has been under police custody since September 25, 2018.

Top of the conditions was that Mr Jowie should never comment on the matter on any of his social media sites.

The suspect was also ordered to be reporting to his home local chief once every month.

Jacque Maribe and Jowie Irungu during a past court hearing

Lawyer Cliff Ombeta in two occasions had failed to convince the courts to release Mr Jowie on bail.

In November 2019, Jowie filed a fresh application noting that all the witnesses in the case had already testified.

All his fellow accused are out on bail- Ms Jacque Maribe was released on a Sh2 million bond on October 30, 2018 and Mr Jennings Orlando a Recce Squad officer was equally released just two days after he was arrested.

Since his arrest detectives have been saying that Mr Jowie was not alone in the house on the night when he was murdered.

Equally, they said that CCTV cameras captured him in the company of another person inside Ms Maribe’s car when he was leaving the apartment that Ms Kimani lived.

All the suspects in the cases pleaded not guilty.
