Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that an agreement is in place between his side and Chelsea over the transfer of Hakim Ziyech to the London club.
The Moroccan winger has been on the radar of several European clubs after an exceptional 2019/20 campaign with Ajax where the team reached the UEFA Champions League semi-final before suffering a painful exit in the hands of Tottenham who stages a sensational comeback.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham were both trailing the Moroccan international last summer but failed to meet Ajax’s asking price and the player remained in Amsterdam for another season.
Chelsea have now managed to pip the other interested clubs for his services in a deal reported to be worth 38 million pounds, a price that can be said to be in the current inflated market.
His coach Ten Hag is however not shocked by the player’s move to London as he expected it to happen.
“A transfer was coming, we expected it to happen,” Ten Hag said.
The tactician, who has in the recent past been linked with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich however is shocked that the player did not leave the club earlier.
“And I actually expected this one or two years earlier. And each time it was: ‘Wow, he stayed again’,” he added.
The attacker brings some flair, assists, and goals to Chelsea.
