Retired President Moi’s body was this morning airlifted to Kabarak in Nakuru County in a military aircraft.
His cortege arrived at Kabarak University ahead of the State burial service and interment in style.
Led by ACK Bishop, his granddaughter and police motorcade from Kabarak Airstrip to Kabarak University.
The body left Wilson Airport at around 7:45 am in a military chopper M-71. It was flown to Kabarak Airstrip where it arrived at around 8:35 am.
The body, escorted by family, was driven in a military car from Lee Funeral Home to Wilson Airport and loaded onto a military transport helicopter.
Baringo Senator Gideon Moi accompanied the body.
The burial ceremony of the late retired President is underway at his Kabarak, Nakuru County.
The former Head of State will be accorded full military honors, which include conveyance of the body under escort on a gun carriage, accompanied by military musical honors and a 19 gun-salute.
Tens of people are streaming into the compound where the ceremony will take place. Security is tight with more officers being deployed there to man the activities there.
Moi will be laid to rest at his Kabarak home next to his wife Lena, who died in 2004.
Before he was airlifted to Karbarnet for the final salute, his body was on Tuesday escorted from Lee Funeral Home to State House after which the military took over traversing the Nairobi CBD as they marched with his casket on a gun carriage to Nyayo National Stadium for the memorial service.
