A landlord on Wednesday morning killed a tenant over a Sh2500 rent arrears.
Mr Warren Jirongo 26, was stabbed to death by his landlord in Kawangware, Nairobi County an incident that sparked protests.
Mr Lusimba Abraham a local said that protests started on midday and torched the landlord’s house.
“I was just in the house when I heard people protesting and when I came out I saw a huge crowd setting a house on fire,” Mr Lusimba said.
James Ochieng, also a local wondered why the police had not arrested the suspects.
“Surely, this incident happened hours ago but the police are yet to make any arrests and they are saying that the whole landlord’s family is at large. It is so sad,” he said.
It has emerged that the late Jirongo was a total orphan and was working as a garbage collector in the slums.
Mr Jirongo’s body was taken to the City Mortuary.
The late has been described as a hardworking man who always struggle to make his ends meet.
