Son Seals Win Over Southampton To Continue The Mourinho Revival At Spurs

After a rocky start to his Tottenham Hotspur managerial career, Jose Mourinho is slowly turning the Spurs wheel in the right direction. The team is unbeaten in their last five matches, winning three and drawing two.

The latest win came in a pulsating 3-2 victory over Southampton in the fourth-round FA Cup replay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Mourinho inherited a team that had lost the Champions League final last season, already out of the title race and without their best source of goals in striker Harry Kane.

However, the duo of Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son normally step up in the absence of the striker as shown by their incredible run to the European final last season.

Against Southampton, this was the case as Moura equalized in the 78th minute to make it 2-2 after Danny Ings and Shane Long had threatened to snatch victory for the visitors.

It set up a grand finale to the match which was settled by a Son penalty in the last minute of normal time after the South Korean was brought down.

Spurs will now face Norwich City in the quarter-finals next month. The match will follow a series of tricky fixtures for Spurs. After the winter break, they face RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds before squaring it up with Chelsea and Wolverhampton in the Premier League.

For now, though, Mourinho will be happy with how his team is adapting to his methods.
