Kinoti Arrests Top EACC Official Over Ksh500K Deal

Sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday arrested an official of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over a Ksh0.5 million deal.

Opera News has established that the anti-graft body’s employee identified as Caleb Okoth Okoth, 37, misappropriated Ksh572,000.

In a police report filed under OB number 76/3/02/2020- Mr Okoth received the money that was meant to run the operations of EACC office in Nyeri.

“The Commissioner employee by the name of Caleb Okoth Okoth the operation assistant misappropriated Sh572,000 which came into his possession by virtue of his employment,” the report read in part.

It has emerged that the detectives further raided his office but did not manage to recover any exhibits related to the misappropriation of the funds.

The arrest comes just a week after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss spoke tough on matters corruption as he promised to open old cases if new evidence is found.

Mr Kinoti was speaking in relation to a Ksh272 million Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) land fraud case that has DP William Ruto’s name adversely mentioned.

He further said that no amount of intimidation would stop him from pursuing the matter until the cartels who have milked the country dry are successfully prosecuted.
