The service that was earlier scheduled to take place at the Kasarani Stadium has been rescheduled to be done at the newly face-lifted Nyayo Stadium.

The former head of state who died aged 95, is set to be interred at his Kabarak home but not before a public viewing is done at Statehouse and Parliament buildings.

The requiem mass will take place at Nyayo stadium before a final funeral service set for Kabarak University grounds.

Moi’s body would then be ferried to his Kabarak home with only a handful of hand-picked family members, friends and dignitaries allowed at the graveyard.

After his death Tuesday morning, the Kenya Army have taken over the organization and planning of Moi’s funeral as he is regarded to have been a Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces at one point.

Lee Funeral Home where Moi’s body is being preserved has been a highly restricted zone with KDF soldiers screening everyone getting in and out.

Former President Moi succumbed to an undisclosed illness after spending the better part of the last quarter of 2019 in and out of the hospital.
