The Day Kiambu Governor Almost Resigned

Details privy to Opera News have emerged of how the new Kiambu governor, James Nyoro almost resigned before been sworn in as the next county boss on Friday, January 31, 2020.

During the swearing-in ceremony, where James Nyoro became the third governor to serve Kiambu county under the new constitution, Kiambu Woman Representative intimated to the public how the current governor almost resigned due to frustrations caused by the immediate former governor, Ferdinand Waititu.

Gathoni Wa Muchomba while giving her speech told the public of how she encouraged Mr Nyoro not to resign and gave him heart during those trying times.

“Dr Nyoro we unajua wewe ni rafiki yangu. Na wakati ulimwagiwa maji kwa ofisi ni mimi nilikwambia usiresign.Ulikuwa unataka kuresign nikakubemeleza sana usiresign.(Dr Nyoro you are my friend. The moment your office was flooded with water {by goons}  I was the one who told you not to resign. )” The Kiambu legislator said.

She further urged Nyoro that since he has been given the powers to lead, it will be up to him to make sure that he puts his doctorate degree to use and help Kiambu move to posterity.

“Now you have the power. Whatever you wanted to do in this county with your doctorate degree, do it now! And we will support you 100%. ”

The former radio queen also castigated the former governor accusing him of misappropriating public funds. She also claimed that she was the one who started the war with Waititu.

“I have persevered persecutions from Waititu.” She said, “for I never feared the repercussions of speaking the truth…Waititu used to eat public funds(sic).”

There was tight security in Kiambu County Headquarters ahead of James Nyoro’s swearing as the governor.

Armed policemen were seen all over the place as residents sang and danced in the event.

Invited guests were already seated by 12pm and were eagerly waiting for the ceremony to kick off.

By 12.59 pm, Nyoro had been handed his certificate as the residents broke down in song and dance.

Meanwhile, Waitutu’s efforts to block the swearing-in were dealt a blow after the High Court declined to grant him his prayers.
