Kiambu Deputy Governor, James Nyoro, has finally spoken out, hours after the Judiciary postponed his highly awaited swearing-in ceremony, as the governor of the county.
Citizens and leaders of the vast devolved unit had gathered at the county headquarters for the event as early as 8 AM, only for the courts to announce five hours later, that the event would not take place as planned.
Speaking to the charged crowd after the disappointing move by the Judiciary, Nyoro urged the people of Kiambu to remain calm and allow his team, in collaboration with the courts, to set a new date for him to take oath, and replace ousted Ferdinand Waititu.

Nyoro, who had not been seeing eye to eye with his boss since their election in 2017, maintained that in the meantime, he would continue serving in his deputy governorship capacity, until he was legally instituted as the county’s boss.
This, he said, was in a bid to set a positive precedent to other leaders in the country, who prefer taking up power forcefully, instead of allowing the system to take its course.
He noted that the reason why the county was where it was, was because the law was not followed in the first place, and disregarding the Constitution would only plunge the Central Kenya county into deeper woes.
He was accompanied by a group of Kiambu politicians led by nominated senator Isaac Mwaura and Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba.
Nyoro also took the chance to laud President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Building Bridges Initiative, saying that it would help fill all the legal voids in the constitution pertaining to devolution.
