Harambee Stars winger Ayub Timbe is set to join English side Reading on loan until the end of the season. Timbe currently plays for Beijing Renhe in China.
He has been training with the Championship side for close to a month and impressed the technical bench, prompting them to table him a deal until the end of the season. He has been on the radar of the team since last summer but a move failed to materialize in August of last year.
Renhe was relegated to the Chinese second-tier and Timbe is keen on a new challenge, hence the move.
Timbe spent most of last season injured but the speedy winger recovered in time to feature for the national team Harambee Stars in the Africa Cup Of Nations Tournament last year. Injuries limited his appearances for the Chinese side to just 13 outings for the whole season
Reading is currently 18th in the Championship table with 37 points, the team is winless in their last four matches and in danger of relegation. It is hoped that Timbes arrival will give them the kick start they need at a crucial time in their league season.
Timbe will become the second Kenyan to play in the top two English leagues with the other being Victor Wanyama who currently features for Tottenham Hotspur.
