Uhuru Issues Stern Warning to Ruto Over Ties With Raila

Details of a closely guarded meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto emerged after the latter was reportedly summoned by his boss at State House, Nairobi.

According to a report by a local daily, President Uhuru took his Deputy head-on over a number of issues including his workings with the leader of opposition Raila Odinga.

It has emerged that the head of state issued a stern warning to Ruto over any plot that may hinder his working relationship with the former prime minister.

It is said that the head of state candidly told Ruto that he is set for a rude shock if he was seeking to stop him from working with the ODM leader.

“Uhuru told the DP that if he thought he was going to stop him from working with Raila in the unity bid he was daydreaming,” a source told the local daily.

An inside source privy to the meeting also told the local daily that the Head of State warned his Deputy over insubordination and acts of frustrating his unity initiatives.

The revelations come barely a day after President Uhuru, while addressing a gathering in Bahati Nakuru, emphasized that his course to unite the county apparently through the BBI was unstoppable.

The president in a bold declaration said the path of bringing the country together is one of his key plans as he serves his last term and no one will tell him otherwise.

“I will not be stopped in my bid to unite the country. That is the position I have taken moving forward in that direction. I want to ensure Kenyans remain peaceful during and after General Elections every five years,” said Uhuru.

The developments come in the wake of looming tension in the county after Tanga Tanga leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto announced parallel rallies to that led by the ODM leader and his allies.

The Ruto-allies despite announcing earlier that they will be a party to each rally led by the ODM leader made a sudden u-turn after there Naivasha meeting saying they had decided to hold different rallies to reinforce on the already scheduled ones.

The pronouncements attracted rabid criticism from a section leaders allied to President Uhuru and the ODM leader who accused their colleagues of planning to sabotage the president’s initiative in their bid to force him to support the DP Ruto for the presidency.

The Uhuru-Raila allies also claimed that the Tanga Tanga leaders planned to impeach the president during their Naivasha retreat.

The leaders accused DP Ruto of fighting the President through his allies and went ahead to urge him to step aside if he felt the government was no longer welcoming to him.
