I Vied to be Nairobi Governor so Respect Me, Waititu Tells Senate

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu Wednesday took to Senate for the second day, to issue his last-minute defense statement, over his impending impeachment.

The county head cracked the House up when he, once again, threatened the legislators of retaliating whichever decision they made on his case, once they became governors, and he, a senator.

”What you will do will come to haunt you,” the politician, whose woes started when he was implicated in gross corruption scandals in Kiambu, told the amused senators.

He further demanded his political juniors and the country at large to accord him his deserved respect, first as a married man, and a family man, and also as a seasoned politician.

”I am a family man who should be respected by all means. Nobody should conclude that I am a thief just like that honestly speaking,” the governor lamented.

Waititu bragged about the powerful political positions he held prior to becoming a county head, such as the MP for Embakasi and Kabete, Councillor, and Deputy Mayor of Nairobi.

”Not mentioning I tried to be governor of Nairobi. I am somebody who had worked hard who should be respected,” the Kiambu leader pleaded.

He requested the House to consider his solid political background when making a decision on his fate, vehemently denying all graft accusations leveled against him.

The senators were expected to take the final vote on whether to uphold Waititu’s impeachment motion by the Kiambu County Assembly Wednesday evening.
