‘Uhuru Attacked Me Before My Wife & Children’- MP Ngunjiri Fires Back

Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri on Wednesday responded to a scolding directed towards him by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday.

The MP expressed his dismay on the president’s remarks saying it was shocking to hear the Head of State attacking him at his home.

“A full President, surely, he was coming here to incite people of Bahati, coming telling people kimundu giki, I am Kimani Ngunjiri & he knows my name…..coming all the way to my gate, my gate of home, where my wife & children are,” said Ngunjiri.

The MP added that he could not understand why the president claimed that he had abused him yet he could utter the very words he deemed abuses.

According to the MP, he only differed with President Uhuru basing on the matter of development issues on a myriad of promises he made for his constituents.

“Something that shocked is that the president was attacking me at the gate of my home where my children, wife, and key relatives were there.

“I was shocked by the words he was using because he said I was abusing him and he did not say the words I was abusing.

“What I know, what I do is that we just differ in opinions because when we talked about milk and maize among other things. We had six ballot paper when we’re elected, we were not just elected for him to lead and us not to talk,” said the MP.

Ngunjiri accused the head of state of failing to deliver some of the promises he made to his people including four dams and a particular road.

The remarks by the MP come a day after President Uhuru claimed that the MP had been abusing him on several accusations instead of working on his core mandate.

“There is one man who has made it his habit to insult me daily. I decided to keep quiet and observe him until a day I would come to Bahati. I am here to find out whether it is you (residents) who send him to hurl insults at me.

“No one is happy when we have bloodshed after every five years. We won’t buy their intimidation. We have to ensure people live in peace. If he (Ngunjiri) is not able to deliver he can step aside and I will take his place and deliver what you expected from him,” said Uhuru.
