Murkomen Scolds Daily Nation Over ‘Misleading’ Headline on Ruto Allies

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has criticized a local newspaper, Daily Nation over what he claimed as a misleading headline on its Tuesday’s paper.

Taking to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning, the Senate Majority Leader blamed the daily newspaper, claiming that the headline; Revolt as Ruto Group Resolves to go it Alone was fake and misleading.

Jubilee Members of Parliament and Senators allied to the Deputy President William Ruto during a press conference at the end of a two-day retreat at Lake Naivasha Resort.

Murkomen, while assuring that their team will always remain under Uhuru, Ruto’s leadership, claimed their political competitors were the ones sponsoring the newspaper through fake headlines.

“@dailynation with their sponsors are desperate that they had to run headline with fake sources.1. There is nothing like an END of UhuRuto&we shall not allow .Where President will be we too shall be.2. There are no parallel rallies only additional inclusive ones starting with NKR” tweeted Murkomen.

According to the newspaper’s report, the Naivasha meeting called by a section of the MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto marked the end of the political romance between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy.

It went ahead to claim that the leaders’ declarations to hold parallel BBI meetings were aimed at bringing the president under pressure over BBI campaigns.

This comes just a day after more than 150 MPs garnered from Jubilee and other allied parties retreated to Naivasha on Sunday and Monday to chart a way forward concerning the BBI.

The meeting that kicked off on Sunday evening reportedly came up with the OFFICIAL Jubilee position on the BBI scenarios to be presented to the Haji led committee.

Among other resolutions that the leaders came up with included holding their own rallies on the BBI starting with Nakuru in two weeks time.

However, according to Murkomen, the rallies were not in any way meant to counter the other planned meetings.

“These are not in any way meant to counter the already planned meetings but rather to strengthen the initiative and the President, his deputy, Raila and other like-minded leaders are invited,” stated Murkomen.

The resolutions were, however, dismissed by Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju as not binding to the party because it was not a Parliamentary Group meeting.

Tuju stated that the meeting attended by MPs and Senators did not qualify to be called a PG because it was not convened under the party’s constitution, and was not called by the party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta or a person delegated by him.
