Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna on Sunday, January 26, defended Deputy President William Ruto against the onslaughts and ‘mistreatment’ from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While appearing on K24‘s show Punchline hosted by Anne Kiguta, the firebrand barrister bashed the Head of State for causing disunity in his own party, Jubilee, and the country by brutalising his deputy and his allies.

“Uhuru is beating up his deputy every day. What kind of peace if we can’t have peace in Jubilee!” Miguna said when Kiguta asked him about the prevailing peace in the country brought about by the Handshake between the President and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“I am not here defending Ruto but what kind of peace is the so-called President preaching when his deputy and his supporters are being teargassed and brutalised even on the police stations?” he posed.

The self-declared general of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) also challenged the country’s second in command to join his camp if he was truly a revolutionary.

“Ruto should come out in the open. If he is a revolutionary, he should join me,” Miguna said.

This is not the first time Miguna has defended the DP against the President.

In June 2019, the embattled lawyer made rants directed towards Uhuru after reports emerged that a section of Cabinet Secretaries was planning to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

Miguna, who accused the Head of State of being behind the assassination, further labeled insults against the President claiming that he was worse than the DP.

“William Ruto should courageously face his partner in crime Uhuru Kenyatta directly and accuse him of planning the assassination,” he said.
