Ruto’s Senator Makes Damning Allegations on Governors Pictured With Raila in Mombasa

Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot on Saturday took a swipe at governors who were pictured together with ODM Party leader Raila Odinga ahead of the BBI meeting in Mombasa.

Taking to social media to air out his opinion, the Senator who is a key ally to Deputy President William Ruto, claimed that the governors are associating themselves with the ODM leader to avoid being implicated in corruption cases.

ODM leader Raila Odinga with a host of governors.

“The most succinct way to avoid EACC, DCI & DPP.Oh..and also the license to loot with wanton abandon. Cry my beloved country,” tweeted Cheruiyot.

The Senator’s accusations come at a time when leaders allied to DP Ruto have been crying foul over being victimised due to their allegiance to the country’s second in command.

Tanga Tanga leaders have been accusing the state of failing to take action against corrupt governors allied to the ODM leader saying the fight against corruption had been politicised to target leaders going against the status quo.

Among the Governor’s who have been implicated in corruption charges include Kiambu’s Ferdinand Waititu who is already facing an impeachment case at the Senate Assembly.

Other governors under probe are Samburu’ s Moses Lenolkulal and Nairobi County Chief Mike Sonko.

The three governors were barred from office following a court filling until their corruption case is heard and determined.

Among the Governors pictured with Raila included Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Alex Tolgos (Elgeyo Marakwet), Granton Samboja ( Taita Taveta), Ali Roba (Mandera), Okoth Obado (Migori), Mutahi Kahiga (Nyeri).

A total of 24 governors were present during the BBI rally held at Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, Mombasa.

The leaders made calls to have a referendum that will see the county have a powerful prime minister with two deputies as well as regional governments which is seen as a plot to create positions for governors serving their second term in office.

The Mombasa BBI meeting was the third after the Kisii and Kakamega meetings which consolidated the views of people from Nyanza and Western region.

The next BBI rally is set for February 7 and 8 in the Eastern region with both Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu planning to hold separate rallies.
