Ruto Blasts Raila Over BBI Ownership

Deputy President William Ruto has given a public lecture to the Kenyan leaders, on the ownership of the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) and control of the meetings pushing the idea.

Speaking in Embakasi West on Thursday, Dr. Ruto said the document was not put together for a single individual.

“Wewe ni nani sasa unatoa ruhusa ya watu kwenda mkutano ya BBI (who are you to give people permission to attend BBI rallies),” DP Ruto posed.

His response came just hours after Raila said lawmakers allied to the DP are free to attend rallies planned across the country starting with Mombasa.

(“I want to ask you politicians, please BBI is not for this party, the other one or for those people,BBI is for all Kenyans..Everyone should be given a chance to air their opinions, Mama Mboga, conductors, boda boda, mechanics, should be given an opportunity to air their views. BBI is not owned by politicians, its not for leaders alone, BBI is for all Kenyans..and i want to question leaders to stop holding power over it, that they decide who will be in BBI,who won’t be in BBI, who will attend this meeting, who will attend that one….you come, you don’t come,,i want to tell you no one is a visitor in Kenya, we are all Kenyans and BBI isn’t owned by anyone”), explained Ruto.

Political pundits have since argued that after being stung with a possibility of losing his strongholds to ODM leader Raila, Ruto made the shocking U-turn and announced his camp will join the BBI rallies.

“After consultation as leaders, we have decided [that] in order to pursue the original spirit of the BBI irrespective of our concerns against the use of public resources in a process that has been blessed with full nationwide consensus, we will participate and where necessary take charge of these public rallies,” Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen announced.

Analysts believe that the DP and his allies have devised a scheme to hijack the Building Bridges Initiative rallies and take charge of the debate.
