Respect Uhuru, Waiguru Takes on Ruto

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has asked Deputy President William Ruto to respect his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In video footage uploaded by Daily Nation on its YouTube account, Waiguru said it is unacceptable for the Mt Kenya region to tolerate any form of disrespect directed at the Head of State.

In a rant that was directed towards the DP, Waiguru asked Ruto and his allies to respect President Uhuru and give him time to deliver on his mandate.

“Let us tell each other the truth, and let us not teach each other on how we can intimidate one another. You as a man, can you tolerate your wife or even your child to disrespect you?

“Leave alone that, can you even accept your neighbour to intimidate you? It is not impossible, what we are saying is let President Uhuru be respected because he is the head of state. Let him serve Kenyans for his remaining years without facing abuses,” said Waiguru.

The remarks by the governor come in the wake of simmering rivalry between the two groups, Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga, of Jubilee party which has been engaging in verbal wars.

Tanga Tanga which is allied to Ruto has been rooting for the DP’s presidency come 2022 while Kieleweke which identifies itself with President Uhuru has on the other hand been claiming to be after service delivery first, and against early campaigns.

With the ongoing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), the two groups have been trading verbal blows with those allied to President Uhuru siding with the ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The group allied to Uhuru and the ODM leader is seeking constitutional amendments through the change of the constitution to institute a powerful position of a prime minister.

On the other hands, the Tanga Tanga group have expressed reservation on constitutional amendments through the popular initiative saying it is an unnecessary and a waste of resources.

Waiguru has been aligning herself with the group allied to President Uhuru and the ODM leader.

Political pundits argue that the Governor is positioning herself for a greater position soon.

Her close ties with the ODM leader has left many suggesting that the Governor is keen to be the running mate of Raila come 2022.
