A dormitory on fire

A commotion that ensued after the fire emerged caused panic, where students who rushed to rescue their property were caught up in a stampede and in the process suffered burns.

Just two weeks after the opening of the school, the fire razed down three cubicles in a dormitory that hosts more than two hundred students.

The deceased who was confirmed dead on arrival at Bahati Hospital was reported to be sick and had been lying in the dormitory when the fire erupted.

Students who survived the fatal ordeal were treated, having suffered minor injuries.

Properties in the dormitory were burnt to ashes.

Parents rushed to the institution on Sunday morning to check on their children.

This incident comes two years after a similar dormitory fire claimed the lives of 9 students at Moi Girls high school in Nairobi.
