English Premier League side Arsenal is interested in signing 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. He currently plays for Athletico Paranaense in Brazil and the club president has confirmed that contact from Arsenal has been made.
It is understood that Arsenal will make the move official in January but the player will join up with the squad in the summer. Guimaraes is a central midfielder who has seven goals and five assists this season.
Arsenal already has six central midfielders but the Dani Ceballos is on loan from Real Madrid while Granit Xhaka is expected to join Hertha Berlin in the summer transfer window.
Arsenals technical director Edu Gaspar is the man behind the move. The former Arsenal midfielder was also instrumental in the signing of Brazilian wunderkind Gabriele Martinelli who has scored 8 goals this season and is only second to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dismissed any rumors linking the club with a loan move for Manchester City defender John Stones. Arsenal is in the market for a center back but not John Stones.
He, however, confirmed that the club will keep young forward Eddie Nketiah who was recalled from his loan with Championship side Leeds United. Nketiah will stay at the club for the remainder of the season and fight it out for the striking role with Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriele Martinelli and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
